Originally from White Rock, British Columbia, Stan has been living and working in Ontario since 1984. In the late 60’s and early 70’s Stan worked as a studio musician for Terry Jacks of The Poppy Family and producer Bob Brooks of Word Records. Stan played drums and Dobro slide guitar with the group.

In 1973 Fireweed recorded the groundbreaking album “In Circle” for Columbia Records with Native Canadian actor and New York Film Critics Award recipient, Chief Dan George.

Stan began writing and performing his original songs in the late 70’s in Vancouver B.C. and after moving to Ontario in 1984, continued to write and perform at a variety of Folk Music venues and festivals including The Mariposa Folk Festival and the Gravenhurst Opera House.

Stan Today

Stan enjoys performing at intimate house concerts, and has been invited to share his music across Ontario. His simple melodies and well-crafted lyrics bring life to his observations as a fellow traveler and life long seeker.

In 1998 Stan brought many of Muskoka’s finest singer songwriters together to produce, ” Songs of The Segwun” a compilation CD celebrating the last surviving steam ship in North America.

Stan has just released his first solo CD “Life is a River” and is proud to be a part of Muskoka’s Tree Ring Records celebrating and promoting original music in Muskoka and beyond. Stan is also an active supporter of Hunters Bay Radio, a new community based FM radio station 88.7 and a member of Tree Ring Records.
